HomeRecovering Broken Pages

Because the editor is loaded directly onto the page, you may find yourself in a situation where the editor is unable to load, because of content that was saved on the page the last time.  If this happens, you do not need to delete the page entirely and start over.  You can always access the history of any page and revert it to a previous version (one where the editor worked) to continue working.

Follow these steps to access the page in Edit mode again:

First you may need to revert to a previous version of the page

  1. Click on the link "Pages & Files" tab at the top of your workspace to get to the file manager.

  2. For each file or page entry click the "More" button which appears when you hover over any entry, and a menu will appear which shows the number of revisions.  Click on that number.

  3. You'll be presented with a list of revisions.  These dates and times represent every time the page has been saved.

Click on the date and time of the revision you want to see.

If the item you selected is a file, the list of revisions will look a bit different, but it provides the same functionality.  Click on the revision you want to see.

  4. If you would like to revert to the page, just click the "Revert to this version" link at the top of the page revision.  This will make this previous version, the current version of the page.

Tip:  For files, you can revert to the version directly from the "More" menu:

Tip:  You can also get to the page or file History of any page by clicking the History link in the upper right corner of the page, shown below:

Next, add the content from the most recent edit but before you save the page, select or highlight the newly pasted in content and use the eraser tool to remove unsafe elements before saving the page this time.

Remove Formatting

Removing Formatting will set selected text back to default formatting.  This is especially useful (and sometimes necessary) when pasting in content from outside sources.  It also helps in cases when there are errors on the page in VIEW mode that do not show up in EDIT mode.  For example, if text on a page shows in view mode, but is hidden in EDIT mode, removing the formatting of the text may fix the problem.

Example:

Before removing formatting: After removing formatting:
The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.

To remove formatting from the text of any page, enter edit mode on the page and select all the text. Then, click the "Remove Formatting" button.
