Who would use Request Access?
It’s perfect if you want to add users to your workspace, but don’t want to manage the process of figuring out their email address, adding them, and managing them. You’ll still be able to add users to your workspace, but Request Access allows your users to make your life easier.
How do I enable it in my workspace?
Go to Settings and then click on the "Security" Link in the left panel. You will see a check box that enables this feature.
How Request Access works
- Someone wants to access your workspace (maybe you suggested they contribute).
- They go to your workspace and click “Log in”.
- They’ll see a login page. Since they don’t have access to your workspace, they click “Request Access” and fill out some basic information.
- You’re sent an email with simple instructions on allowing the user workspace access (or ignoring them).

If they don’t have a username/password, they’ll be able to click “Request access,” which will take them to a page where they can identify themselves to the workspace administrator(s):

As the workspace administrator, you’ll receive an email that will allow you to grant access (or ignore the request).
…and they’re added to your workspace! No more wondering if you got the email address right or giving complicated instructions to log in to your workspace. Once you grant access, PBworks handles the signup process in the background and lets you manage users from Settings >> Users.
Use Request Access to create your own Invitations to join
Request Access is also a great way to invite larger groups of people to your works by creating your own email invitation. This allows you to explain why you want them to join and you can also provide basic instructions or suggestions if you think they'll need them.
Email everyone that you want to invite to your workspace and include this link for them to join you there.
