Bouncing Emails

Cause

Sometimes, an email service will notify us that our emails are suspected to be spam, and the service will not deliver any of our mailings to its users.  When we get this kind of email, the user's email address is put on something called "the bounce list."  If your email address is on the bounce list, PBworks will never attempt to send any email to your address, since the service has already decided that it will not be delivered.

Effect of having a bouncing email address

The bounce list only effects emails being sent to you from PBworks, so you'll still be able to log in, edit your pages, and upload content.  However, there are many functions that you won't be able to perform with a bouncing email address, including:

  • Resetting your password using the "Forgot my password" form
  • Adding new emails to your PBworks account
  • Logging in for the first time

Solutions

If your email address is on the bounce list, and you aren't receiving any notifications, then you will have to contact the administrator of your email service to lift the ban.  If they have questions about the service, they can find some technical information here:

Once the ban is lifted, your notifications will not be restored automatically, since we have no way of knowing the ban has been lifted.  You must contact Support again, so that we can remove your email address from the bounce list.

Resending the Verification Email

If you don't get your confirmation e-mail, check your spam/bulk/junk mail folders.  The confirmation email will be from "PBworks Registration."

If you still can't find it, go to the following link and try to create your account again, using the same e-mail address.

https://my.pbworks.com/?p=create

You'll be given the option to resend your confirmation e-mail.
